About
Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) is the international honor society of nursing. Founded in 1922 by six student nurses at the Indiana University Training School for Nurses, STTI has become an international organization of nurses committed to using knowledge, scholarship, and service to improve the health of the world’s people. With more than 405,000 members, in 469 chapters located in 86 different countries, STTI is the largest nursing organization in the world.
The Lambda Chapter at the Wayne State University College of Nursing was established in 1953, as the 10th chapter of STTI. Today we have more than 549 active members who are faculty, students, and practicing nurses. As a chapter we support several initiatives:
- Continuing Education events, at least twice a year.
- Two scholarships annually.
- Research grants (up to two a year).
- Service projects
- Annual induction of new members in December
- Annual dinner meeting, usually with some continuing education included.
Most chapter activities are open to all.
